Lots of Possibilities
My OB called this afternoon and asked me to come in right away. Not the kind of call I needed today, but heck, why not. Just pile it on.
So I rush over there. She does another pelvic and confirms that there is no head and my cervix is way in the back. So I have gone backwards. Which she had said on Tuesday when I went in sick, but wanted to confirm it after all the contractions I had while in the hospital.
So then she says we need to have a serious conversation. We have a big decision to make. She wants DH and I to decide if we want to try vaginal or if we want to schedule a c-section. Here are her concerns.
As you know this baby has been flipping all over the place. Only once has she been head down, but never engaged. So some reasons for this could be
1) Her head is too big to fit in my pelvic.
2) Her feet could be tangled in the cord.
3) Something is wrong with my pelvic (with all the separation stuff) that she can't stay head down.
4) She said she could go on and on, but doesn't need to give me nightmares.
Also, the baby's arm is over her head and blocking the "exit" as of yesterday. I forgot the term she used.
The other reason she is concerned is her size. She is afraid of shoulder dysplasia (sp?), she won't fit, pelvic problems, etc.
So she wants us to take the weekend and discuss it. She said there is no right or wrong answer. That only we can decide what is best for us and she will support us no matter what. But that she needed to tell me the risks, especially if I do go into labor and something happens and we need to do an emergency c-section. She wants me to know all the possibilities ahead of time.
She (and we) are aware that these are all hypotheticl situations and there is a chance none of it will happen and everything could be just fine and normal. But we have no way of knowing until the baby is born.
