Happy 4th to Us

We had the worst 4th ever. It started out with a cranky 4 year old and ended with our 6 week old in the hospital. And NO fireworks.

I won't even go into detaila about Julia. I am sure it was mosly normal 4 year old stuff. But poor Keira. She woke up fussy and just got worse through out the day. She was crying like she was in a ton of pain in her tummy and she seemed real hot to me. I kept asking DH if she was hot and he didn't think so.

By dinner time she was crying so much. Any time you moved her she would scream in pain. A little before midnight I felt her again and she was burning up. So I finally decided we needed to get out the old rectal thermometer. Sure enough. She had a 102.5 temp. We called the on call nurse and he sent us straight to the ER.

So Dh stayed home with the girls while I took Keira in. The hospital was great. It is a Children's Hospital. They took us right in and started taking all sorts of tests on her. Temp, Urine, Blood, and a LP (spinal tap). By 4:00 all the test but the LP had come back. Everything was normal. But she was still having so much pain in her abdomen that they decided to admit us and run some tests.

I have to say, I was a bit rustrated with the ER doc. I kept telling him her abdomen hurt but he said it just hurt because the rest of her hurt. Then a nurse came in and held her while I pumped. She also felt her tummy had some issue and told the doc, but he blew her off as well. A little while later I heard her tell him again outside our room that she really thought something was wrong. So he came back in and checked her again and decided to go ahead with the tests. So here we are, admitted to the hospital and waiting to have an Upper GI done on our tiny little baby. Steve was able to have his Dad come get the girls so he could join me up here.
