Keira's 6 Month Check Up
Keira had her 6 month appt. today. Can you believe she is already 6 months? I can't.

She weighed in at "only" 21.4 lbs. I say only because two weeks ago she was 21.2. She has slowed down in her weight gain which is normal for my girls at this age as they are scooting and moving around more. She measured 28 something. They didn't write it down for me and of course I was busy chasing Keira down before she crawled off the table that I missed what she said.
So where do I start? Let's go with food. No more bananas for her. We are to stop bananas and see if she gets the rash on her face again. She has gotten it three times, but she has eaten bananas and no gotten it. So who knows. We also have to keep an eye on her tongue thrust and gagging reflex. She still pushes everything out as soon as it hits her mouth. Then she uses her hand to push it back in. This is mostly with the "liquid" baby food. Then if she eats anything solid, she gags and chokes on it. Even throwing up sometimes. So she said if this is not better by 9 months, she might have to go to a speech therapist or something. She wants us to add rice cereal to the "liquid" stuff and see if that helps. She wants to eat. It is just not easy for her.
Then we weighed her and took off her diaper. Her bottom was perfectly fine. Then the doc came in and took off her diaper to check things out and keira all of a sudden had a nasty rash. Not a diaper rash, a weird rash. Ped even said one spot looked like a thumb print. I told her she did not have that a few minutes ago. Even the nurse said she didn't have it. So there is a chance it could be an allergy to the latex gloves the nurse had on or a yeast rash. So I have to put Lotrimin on her. So weird and random. And then (this is the only one I was a little prepared for) she has RSV. We have been fighting crud in this house for weeks now. Well all that has been left is congestion in her and Sevi's chest. Just wouldn't go away. So they were going to do breathing treatments, but since it is her first time and we don't have a history of this, they put her on Arbutirol liquid and I have to bring Sevi in to be seen because she probably has to be put on breathing treatments. And if Sevi does get the breathing treatments, then they will go ahead and put Keira on them then. She says they are not contagious now. That they were back when they first got it and had the low grade fevers. But we just need to break up the phlegm in their chest and get it out. I guess. Never had RSV I think.
And last but not least...Her head is asymetrical. Ugh. Luckily it is only slightly, but she still mentioned a "helmet". I have no idea how this happened. Keira has never been one to lay in the same spot. I am avid about putting her down in different directions. Plus she was rolling over at 2 months and rolling both ways at 3 months. She doesn't stay in the same spot by any means. The doc said it could be just that she was looking the same way for a long time. meaning she tended to look to her left. But I don't buy that. Keira looks wherever people are standing, etc. The ONLY time I can recall her looking the same direction was when she was in the hospital and looked to the left because that is where my bed was. But that was only for a week. I even mentioned it to the doc while we were there and they said if she stayed longer then we might switch her up, but a week was fine. (See, I am avid about this and even asked back then). So I have no clue why or how her head became asymetrical. Anyway, we'll see. I know none of this is "major" or serious, but it all was just a bit overwhelming all at one time.
Keira was in such a great mood today at the doctor's. She had the nurses laughing. My Ped tried to tell me that I shouldn't be surprised when she tries to wean herself because she is such a busy active baby and may not be able to stay still on the breast. I had to politely remind her all of my girls were/are the same way and I weaned them at 14 months. Anyway, Keira was on her best behavior being all cute and silly. So I gave her one of those tongue depressors to play with. She kept putting it in her mouth and then wuld shake her head back and forth. I was cracking up. So here are a couple of pictures I took with my camera phone.

Compliment Jar
Julia - You have been such a huge help with Keira. Keeping her busy while I cook dinner or unload the groceries. Your help is very appreciated.
Sevina - You were so sweet on the phone with Daddy telling him about your day and then telling him how much you loved him.
Keira - You were such a great sport at your appt. today. You only cried for a second when you got your shots.
