Teach By Example
This is my New Year's Resolution. I admit to not being very good at putting things away. Even worse at throwing things away. I always think that there might be a need for it in the future. Well I have realized my girls are becoming me. And I am the way I am because of my Mom. So my goal is to try and nip it in the bud now. Teach by example. If I put things away and throw things away, hopefully the girls will as well.
So over the next month or so, DH and I are going to go through all the rooms one by one and throw stuff away and organize. We are also going to teach the girls where things go and that it is ok to throw some things away. I want them to be able to put their own clothes away. I am horrible about putting clothes away. I want them to learn to take their clothes off and put them in the hamper. Again, I am bad about this. I have a dirty clothes pile in front of my sink instead. I really want to get the hamper in our room. Right now it is in our closet. So when it is time to go through our room, I hope to make a spot for the hamper in the room. I really wish it would fit in the bathroom, but there really isn't a place for it.
I also want to paint. I am ready to work on this house. I want to paint our bedroom blue. So again, we have to organize it first. I want to paint the dining room red. And I would love to paint the kitchen, but I am not sure what color or how.
Then I want to work on the bathrooms and designing them and painting them. I think Sevi is ready to have access to her bathroom again, so I want to get it ready.
Lots to do this year. Luckily the painting and designing stuff I enjoy. The cleaning, not so much. LOL
Great resolution, Jamie! I agree that all of us have litle eyes on us, and we should always keep in mind setting an example, especially around our children that want to grow up to be just like us.
I found that when I tackled cleaning up and out that I got inspired to do other projects as well - hopefully it will help you with getting to the other things on your list. You go, girl!
